The "Strappado" already has been described and used for the interrogation of witches in the early 15th century, where this method of witch-torture was one of the most simple, but also most painful methods. The arms of the witch were tied behind her back or front, then a long rope is tied to her wrists, leading over a hook at the dungeons ceiling. Then the witch was made hanging in pain caused by her own weight or sometimes increased pain by additional weights attached to her legs. Also sometimes a series of drops was added to make the naked witch confess her sins. |

Once a witch has been found guilty, there was a special kind of punishment which also was a chance for those women to demonstrate their will to purge and suffer for what they have done. This was called the "Parcours of Torment". In this video you will see a young blonde wench suffering by incredible thirst down in the dungeon. For a few drops of water she would do anything, even she will have to stand any kind of mistreatment to satisfy her thirst. The torturers promise her some fresh water - but before she will have the chance to get it they make her suffer a lot!
